Q: Am I asleep?

A: Yes, you are in a relaxed sleep-like state.

Q: Will I feel anything?

A: No you will not feel anything.

Q: Will I wake up?

A: No you will not wake up during the procedure.

Q: Will I hear anything?

A: No, as you are waking up from the end of your treatment you may be aware of those around you, and hear surrounding noises.

Q: How long until I can go home?

A: Depending on your treatment and how long you have been sedated for, recovery time will vary from 20 minutes to 1hr.

Q: Will I remember anything?

A: You will not remember anything, although at the end of the procedure when you are waking up, you may remember bits and pieces.

Q: Can I eat or drink anything before?

A: No, you cannot eat or drink (not even water) for 6 hours before your procedure.

Q: Are there any restrictions of who can and can’t go under sedation?

A: If you are under 20kg, under 8 years old or pregnant we cannot treat you under sedation.

Q: Can I drive after being sedated?

A: No, legally you cannot operate a car or any heavy machinery for 48hrs.

Q: Can I have someone with me?

A: Yes, you can have someone come in with you while you go to sleep. You cannot have someone with you during the actual procedure. You can also have someone with you during the recovery phase.

Q: Can I go to school / work after?

A: No, not on the same day.
